Spring has arrived, and summer is not far off. The skiers and other winter vacationers have made their final departures, and the natural wear and tear of these beloved guests once again becomes evident in most of our rental properties. Thus, it’s time to start thinking about a good and thorough deep cleaning for your rental property.The change of the season makes me think about the “difference” in our winter guests versus our summer guests. In the summertime our clientele typically stay with us for extended periods of time; from one month to as many as three. These guests settle in and make your home their home and they spend a great deal of time in “their” home. They utilize space that a winter guest doesn’t typically, i.e. closets, under bed storage, every kitchen and bath cabinet just to name a few. It is these guests that help drive my strong desire to perform a deep cleaning in our rental homes.The busy pace of the rental season most often does not allow adequate time to perform what is commonly called "deep clean" tasks such as: washing all bedding, blankets, quilts, comforters; wiping down cupboards and baseboards; dusting the "high spots" and most importantly, a much needed carpet clean. At this time of year, the necessity of a thorough deep clean becomes abundantly clear after a trip through any of our rental homes. It also allows our property management staff to perform such tasks as: inventorying pillows, comforters, kitchen utensils and other items; discarding the old and replenishing with new essentials. Prior to each pending summer rental, rental program managers will be in each unit inventorying and taking stock in the condition of each home after the winter rental season.
